About this event

In cooperation with the Florida State Parks, the Escamia Amateur Astrononomers will host public stargazes at Big Lagoon State Park on the Saturdays closes to the first and third quarter moons over the winter of 2026-27. These gazes are free to the public, but normal park fees apply for entry; remember to check in at the front gate before sunset. We will set up telescopes for both visual and photographic observations at the East Beach parking lot, all the way to the end of the access road; our normal site at the Amphitheater is closed for repairs currently. Free star charts, sky interpretation, lunar and planetary viewing, and deep sky imaging are offered. Be sure to bring your smartphones and we can teach you how to take, edit, and process astrophotos on the spot!
