COMMUNITY NEWS
- ➤ American Magic and SailGP announced a five-year deal to bring the entire SailGP fleet to Pensacola for off-season training starting this winter. The agreement includes the new American Magic High Performance Center (56,000 sqft), which will welcome top sailors and boost local businesses. Pensacola News Journal
- ➤ Pensacola will host the Blue Angels for two air shows each year in 2026 and 2027 — the Pensacola Beach Air Show and the NAS Pensacola Homecoming Air Show. In 2026, the beach show is set for July 18 and the homecoming for Nov. 6 and 7, while 2027 dates are planned for July 17 and Nov. 5 and 6. Pensacola News Journal

- ➤ Geek icon Wil Wheaton will join Pensacon 2026 in downtown Pensacola from Feb. 20 to Feb. 22, adding his voice to a star-studded lineup from film and TV. WEAR-TV
ECONOMY NEWS
- ➤ Field International Group chose Escambia County for its new U.S. headquarters after officials approved economic incentives on Jan. 8 — the company will invest $8 million and create 50 jobs at a location near Midtown Commerce Park on 3890 Pasco Street. A second expansion phase for extra development may follow. Pensacola News Journal

- ➤ Gov. Ron DeSantis appointed Richard Holzknecht, Todd Leonard and Audrey McDonald to serve on the Pensacola State College District Board of Trustees on Jan. 9 — he also reappointed Dr. Troy Tippett; the appointments are subject to Senate confirmation. Pensacola News Journal
- ➤ Dixon After Hours trains actors in Broadway-styled productions at Dixon School of Arts and Sciences. The program funded by Escambia Children’s Trust staged 'Elf Jr. The Musical' Dec. 5-7 and will present 'Once On This Island' in the spring while offering acting, vocal, and dance training to students (ages 6–18).
