CULTURE NEWS

  • Pensacola’s Florida Square may soon fund a permanent America’s First Settlement Trail as the A1S Trail Foundation plans to sell engraved bricks on the former Confederate Monument site — the Parks board approved the plan Jan. 20, and the City Council will decide in February.  Pensacola News Journal
  • Blue Morning Gallery on Palafox Street in downtown Pensacola shows original local art including jewelry, paintings, and ceramics. Palafox Street is shut down from Garden to Main for the Reimagine Palafox project — a change that supports community creativity.  Pensacola News Journal

  • Florida Power and Light is inviting community votes for the PNJ Girls Athlete of the Week award for Jan. 19-24; voting closes at 11 a.m. Saturday and winners will be announced each Monday, honoring local talent in soccer and weightlifting.  Pensacola News Journal
  • Florida Power and Light PNJ Boys Athlete of the Week nominees for Jan. 19 to 24 were recognized for standout performances in basketball, soccer and wrestling by local high school teams. Voting closes at 11 a.m. Saturday and winners will be announced next Monday.  Pensacola News Journal
