- ➤ Bear Fruit Bowls and Coffee will open its largest location yet at the former Gulf Breeze Shop on Gulf Breeze Parkway by the first week of March – the new sit-down shop will add espresso-based drinks to its build-your-own acai bowl menu following overwhelming community support. - ➤ Escambia County EMS paramedic Phillip Cook received the 2026 Star of Life award on Feb. 4 after his quick decisions during an emergency transport on Oct. 27, 2025 helped stabilize a pediatric trauma patient who was diverted to a Miramar Beach hospital on the way to Pensacola. Local Pulse
- ➤ Escambia and Santa Rosa public schools will send students home if they have a fever at 100.4 degrees or a rash amid a measles outbreak. Escambia County recorded its first measles case in 30 years while Santa Rosa schools follow state health protocols. Pensacola News Journal
