  • Last Saturday the Pensacola Ice Flyers hosted a Day of Play (in partnership with the Rally Foundation) treating six boys battling cancer like hockey stars with a locker room tour, custom jerseys and ice time. The event brought community spirit and hope.  Local Pulse

ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • On Sunday night, two NAS Pensacola airmen rescued a 37-year-old driver who drove the wrong way after a medical emergency and crashed into Bayou Chico Creek near a local gas station before EMS arrived.  FOX 10

  • James Overbay and his wife now own Cordova Cigars, a long-loved lounge in Pensacola — a place where regulars gather to enjoy cigars and conversation. He plans renovations and educational sessions to welcome newcomers and preserve the community spirit.  Local Pulse

ECONOMY NEWS

  • Gas prices in Florida surged on March 18 as five counties saw regular gasoline near $4 per gallon. In the Pensacola area, gas sold for an average of $3.615 (up from Tuesday) and remained more affordable than in other counties.  Pensacola News Journal

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • The City of Pensacola will host its Mayor's Neighborhood Cleanup on Saturday, March 28 north of East Hill. Residents in the cleanup area must place eligible bulk items curbside by 7 a.m. but not before Wednesday, March 25.  City of Pensacola
  • The New Palafox Project is 80% complete on stormwater and curb work and is set to finish May 24 while road closures for Gallery Night this Friday and a six‐week west sidewalk closure on Plaza Ferdinand affect downtown access.  Rick's Blog

  • Pensacola Sports CEO Ray Palmer, recently inducted into the Sports ETA Hall of Fame, says the city needs an indoor sports facility with multiple courts to support youth athletic events. He believes a standalone venue built outside downtown will meet growing sports tourism demand.  Rick's Blog
  • The Booker T. Washington Lady Wildcats won the state championship this past weekend. Their win completes a mother-daughter legacy as former champion Syretta Byrd (2000) cheered her daughter Sa'miya Johnson, who grew up dreaming of the title.  WEAR-TV
