  • On Tuesday, March 18, 2025, hundreds of community members gathered downtown to speak out against regressive views held by some new UWF board members at the SCI building—former trustee Suzanne Lewis was among those who addressed the crowd. Supporters signed petitions and expressed concerns that may lead to further review of UWF's direction.  Pensacola News Journal

ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • Crews are battling a 200-acre brush fire in Jay while residents have been ordered to evacuate and several roadways are closed—county officials report that five tractor plow units and brush trucks are protecting structures as additional resources arrive.  WEAR-TV

BUSINESS NEWS

  • GE Vernova's Pensacola-made turbines will power 85,000+ Texas homes and create hundreds of American jobs after the company signed a deal with RWE to deliver 109 onshore wind turbines for two Texas wind farm projects, with deliveries starting later this year. The contract supports local manufacturing and creates a renewable energy corridor between Florida and Texas.  Rick's Blog

CRIME NEWS

  • A Pensacola man, 25-year-old Stephon Dewaunn Dudley, Jr., got a 25-year sentence for a 2023 carjacking at a Whataburger that ended in a fatal crash after a police chase — he was convicted of carjacking with a firearm and robbery with a deadly weapon — Judge John Simon handed down the sentence.  WEAR-TV
  • On Tuesday night, a 48-year-old Pensacola man was arrested on DUI and hit-and-run charges after he crashed his Dodge pickup truck into a police SUV on Creighton Road during a search for a stolen car; officers said a 25-year-old was injured and the driver, on his third DUI offense in over-10 years, fled but was caught a few blocks away.  WEAR-TV
