- ➤ Escambia County Animal Control arrested Pensacola man Jerney Purifoy for alleged dog fighting after a call reported dogs tethered without water at 280 Seamarge Lane in late March and confiscated six injured pit bulls from his home—his arraignment is set for April 17. Pensacola News Journal
- ➤ The Pensacola Humane Society reported that two people stole donations and took plants from its shelter porch — the agency urged anyone who recognizes the suspects to send a direct message as authorities follow up on the case. WEAR-TV
- ➤ Escambia Animal Welfare said evidence of professional dog fighting was found at a home on 280 Searmarge Lane—deputies took six pit bulls, IV bags and a gun which they say were used in underground fights. Pensacola News Journal

- ➤ Mayor D.C. Reeves said the cost to build the new American Magic headquarters at the Port of Pensacola has risen to over $17M — above the original $15M budget — and that the America's Cup sailing team will pay over $3M upfront by September as the City Council votes on a lease change next week. The lease requires the team to add 120 new jobs to avoid penalties. Pensacola News Journal
- ➤ Santa Rosa County commissioners will vote Monday to spend $385,665 on a design study by Jacobs Engineering to explore tolls on the Navarre Beach Causeway Bridge—tolls estimated at 50 cents to $1.50 per crossing that could raise about $2 million a year for maintaining the 65-year-old bridge and funding its eventual replacement.
