  • Nonprofit 'Be the Miracle' gifted a car to a local veteran and provided a $200 Walmart gift card with supplies on Saturday. Founded nearly a decade ago by Marine veteran and pastor Timothy Chandler, the organization offers vital help to veterans in need.  WEAR-TV
  • Dozens of nonprofit organizations hosted the Fred Levin Way Festival at Pensacola Maritime Park on Sunday, offering free food, entertainment and resources to thousands of residents.   • Momotaro Ramen, owned by longtime chef Chuck Hsu, will open soon on East Nine Mile Road in the Cashiers Plaza retail center in Pensacola. The new restaurant will serve 12 kinds of ramen plus signature sushi and other Asian-inspired dishes from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m.  Pensacola News Journal

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Pine Forest High School’s James Christopher was named this week’s Student of the Week today after receiving 79.45 percent of the vote; voting for next week will begin Tuesday, Apr. 14.  Pensacola News Journal

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • City and county leaders will meet on April 16 to plan a $189 million renovation and expansion of Bay Center that could add convention and multi-use space while upgrading the arena, with officials stressing that city support is vital for the project to move forward.  Pensacola News Journal

  • Pensacola's PNJ pastry bracket enters its final round today with Indulgence Bakehouse & Delectable Delights by Tarolyn battling for the title as voters can cast ballots until noon on April 16.  Pensacola News Journal

  • Three new affordable housing projects in Pensacola will provide 180 apartments and 33 homes for military families + seniors. Ekos at Warrington began construction with a fall opening planned as Emerald Meridian Apartments and Hancock Meadows get upgrades to ease the local housing crisis.  Pensacola News Journal

  • Florida high school sports are heating up as teams vie in lacrosse, baseball, and tennis while the Florida Power & Light PNJ Girls Athlete poll is open; vote ends 11 a.m. Saturday to choose nominees in flag football, lacrosse, softball, and track, with winners receiving a shirt from BSN SPORTS.  Pensacola News Journal
  • The Pensacola Ice Flyers played the Evansville Thunderbolts in Indiana in a final round one President's Cup Playoffs match. They lost 4 to 1 on Wednesday then won 3 to 1 on Friday at home to stay alive in the best-of-three series as fan turnout continues to boost local support.  WEAR-TV
