The Junior League of Pensacola gave out 30,000 diapers at Fred Levin Way Fest to help families who do not have enough supplies—people at the event also learned how they can support the group through its twice-yearly diaper drives—making a big difference in our community.

Pensacola will soon get a new Chipotle at the northwest corner of Denver Avenue and West Michigan Avenue in Bellview after Escambia County’s Development Review Committee approved updated plans on April 9—this 2,350-square-foot restaurant with a drive-thru lane and 32 parking spots will open next to an existing Hungry Howie’s and become the county’s third location.

Nine Mile Road, while a Wawa will open at 8530 N. Davis Highway when construction finishes. County officials approved plans for Nine Mile Retail Center at 640 E. Nine Mile Road and Nine Mile Plaza at 1310 W. Nine Mile Road—projects that will expand local commercial growth in the area.

The Pensacola Police Department welcomed its newest member, K9 Jett, a 16 month old Chesapeake Bay Retriever trained in explosives detection and imported from Hungary for Pensacola International Airport.

Jett completed an intensive 8 week program with Officer Tavis Herron and will help keep the airport safe — the fourth explosives detection dog assigned there since 2002.

An affordable housing project was under construction in downtown Pensacola at 113 N.
