🎭 Culture
Fort Pickens (built 1829 to 1834 using 21.5 million bricks) is a historic coastal fortification that once defended Pensacola Bay and now draws visitors to the Gulf Islands National Seashore.
The Eta Aquariids meteor shower begins tonight over local skies and will peak on May 5.

The Pensacola Architectural Review Board approved the conceptual design for a downtown grocery store complex at 200 West Garden St on April 16 with suggestions to enhance historic elements and pedestrian access—developers said they will incorporate the changes in the final plan.
Linda Holmes, a disabled Pensacola resident relying on ECUA’s assistance program for trash pickup, says service has been missed every week since her move to Bellview.
ECUA said a new driver may be causing delays and is sending someone to handle the issue.

Pensacola’s American Made Sportfishing started the 2026 Sport Fishing Championship season in Key West and will compete in Gulf Division tournaments to earn points toward a playoff in Cabo San Lucas later this year.

Tate girls and Navarre boys track teams won district titles at the District 1-3A championships held at Pine Forest on Saturday, scoring 133.5 and 154 points respectively.
