The Pensacola Beach Chamber of Commerce is hosting the 17th Annual Pensacola Beach Art and Wine Festival on Saturday, May 9 at the Boardwalk and Gulfside Pavilion from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Visitors will enjoy wine tastings, live music, and vendors, with Grand Tastings starting at 1 p.m.

On April 29, gas prices in Florida jumped 7 cents overnight to $4.15 a gallon, following a 14-cent rise on April 28, according to AAA.
Drivers have seen a total 21-cent increase over two days, prompting many to use price-check apps to find the best deals.
Visit Pensacola requested $500K for its national ad campaign after Condé Nast Traveler named Pensacola Beach ‘Best in the U.S.’ and Escambia County Tourist Development Council approved an extra $250K after reviewing strong March results — the ads will target affluent travelers and focus on drawing more visitors from Atlanta and Dallas.

SSI recipients in Florida will receive their next check on Friday, May 1 (per the federal schedule).
Payments will follow a set monthly calendar with August's check coming on Friday, July 31.
Renovations will begin May 1 at the Fricker Resource Center, with senior programs moving to Bayview on May 18 and after school classes ending on May 22.
The center will reopen in June 2027 with a career lab, STEM lab, and ADA playground updates—part of a major city project.

Last week, the Department of Business and Professional Regulation inspected Pensacola restaurants and closed one for roach activity while issuing high-priority warnings to four others and an administrative complaint to a fifth; 28 establishments earned perfect scores for food safety.

Escambia High School baseball team needs to raise $10,000 by Thursday to cover travel, lodging + meals for the semifinal series at Clay High in Green Cove over 360 miles east; they've raised $2,100 so far and will play Friday at 6 p.m. and Saturday at noon if needed.
USA TODAY Network has launched its 250 for 250 series spotlighting top high school boys basketball figures from Pensacola (inviting residents to vote for their favorite among ten honored players, including local legends and NBA stars).
The series will celebrate our area's sports history over the coming months.
