  • Marine GySgt. David Post—severely injured in Afghanistan—received his new home from Homes For Our Troops in Milton on Saturday, May 16, 2026 during a key ceremony.  Pensacola News Journal
  • The Escambia County Department of Animal Welfare rescued 32 dogs from a hoarding situation by converting an unused building at the Perdido Landfill into a temporary shelter where the animals are receiving treatment.   • Pensacola’s new Wawa store will open on May 21 at 8 a.m. at 9262 W. Highway 98; the first 100 customers receive a limited-edition T-shirt, while all get free coffee. GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Governor DeSantis signed a new law today that expands the school guardian program to include public colleges and universities in Florida. Teachers and staff must complete sheriff-led training to carry weapons, and campuses will undergo annual security risk reviews to improve safety.  FOX 10
