- ➤ The YMCA is launching summer camps in June for kids aged 5 to 10 and teens aged 11 to 15 at sites in Pensacola and Navarre—programs include swimming, art, games and field trips that run during summer break from May 24 until August 11, with fees varying by membership status. - ➤ An overnight house fire broke out near Green and Gonzalez streets at 2:50 a.m. Monday in Pensacola—firefighters are working the scene—and investigators continue to search for the cause. WEAR-TV
CRIME NEWS
- ➤ Deputies arrested 21-year-old DeShawn Donson on Sunday night after he allegedly robbed the Raceway on Airport Boulevard at 11 p.m.; officers ended a chase with a head-on collision that recovered cash and a gun (he faces charges for multiple armed robberies from 2024 into 2025). WEAR-TV
- ➤ Escambia County Sheriff's deputies are investigating a homicide after they found the body of a man with a gunshot wound outside on Citrus Street and Anthony Drive around 7 a.m. on May 19+ no suspects have been identified. Pensacola News Journal
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Pensacola International Airport is hosting a TSA PreCheck enrollment center from 8 a.m. to noon and 1-5 p.m. May 19 through May 23 — applicants must pre-register online and bring proof of identity and U.S. citizenship. The enrollment fee is $76.75 and covers five years of expedited screening. Pensacola News Journal
- ➤ On May 26, Escambia and Santa Rosa counties will hold Memorial Day ceremonies to honor military members who died in defense of the United States—Pensacola’s Veterans Memorial Park will open at 9 a.m. for a 1 p.m. service, Milton’s Veterans Memorial Plaza will host a 10 a.m. ceremony, and Navarre Park will hold an 11 a.m. event followed by a free concert at Hunter Amphitheater. These events will include musical performances, wreath presentations, and speeches by local veterans and community leaders. Pensacola News Journal

- ➤ Pensacola residents will soon see the 23rd Annual Emerald Coast Blue Marlin Classic at Sandestin Golf and Beach Resort from June 18 to June 22, 2025, where teams will compete by catching blue marlin that must be at least 110 inches long to earn a share of over $2 million in prizes. The tournament starts at noon from Destin Pass and features official weigh-ins on Friday and Saturday nights at Baytowne Marina—bringing live music and fireworks to celebrate big-game sportfishing.
