  • On Sunday, May 25th, the Veterans Memorial Park Foundation held a Memorial Day ceremony in Pensacola that featured a flyover, flag presentation, wreaths, and a 21-gun salute to honor fallen soldiers. The event also added five names from Washington D.C.'s Vietnam veterans memorial to the local veterans wall—local groups like Pensacola Jeeps and the Pensacola Symphony Orchestra took part.  WEAR-TV

ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • On May 24th, fire crews responded to an active blaze beneath a mobile home on Hickory Shores Blvd in the Gulf Breeze area—using a specialty nozzle to control hotspots while no one was injured.  FOX 10

ECONOMY NEWS

  • Florida's red snapper season is in full swing in Gulf Breeze as it runs from May 24 through May 26 and will reopen on June 1 through July 31 while Alabama's season, which began yesterday, will run until June 30 or until the quota is met—local charter boat captains are hopeful for a busy start.  WEAR-TV

  • Residents in the Cypress Point neighborhood woke this morning to the smell of raw sewage in Escambia Bay—officials say ECUA is working to fix the contamination affecting nearby homes and waterways.  WEAR-TV
