Downtown roads will be closed Friday for the annual Grand Fiesta Parade, as the float staging area shuts at 4:30 p.m. and the parade route closes at 5 p.m. + Streets including Wright, Main, Garden, Palafox, Spring, Tarragona and DeVilliers will face heavy traffic, and parking on the route is banned with vehicles to be towed after 5:30 p.m.

Delta Air Lines will add new nonstop Saturday flights this summer that include a Detroit to Pensacola route using a Boeing 717 operating from June 8 to Sept.

25 (other new routes include flights from Atlanta to Bangor, Detroit to Destin-Fort Walton Beach, Punta Cana and Bozeman, and from MSP to Jackson Hole). The airline is also increasing service from Austin to several Florida cities, such as Panama City, Jacksonville, Tampa and Orlando.

An overnight shooting at Pensacola Village Apartments left one man injured on Wednesday; his injuries are non-life-threatening as police continue to investigate.
