  • The Pensacola FPL Touch-A-Truck Hurricane Expo held yesterday at the Florida Power and Light Building offered kids face painting, games, lineworker demonstrations, and free food.   • The Watson Family Foundation is hosting a free, family-friendly Juneteenth celebration on Saturday, June 13 at Museum Plaza (120 Church Street) from 12 PM to 6 PM.   • The Escambia Children's Trust Program Committee voted (3–2) to move all 13 Bright Pathways grant applicants forward for a share of $3.5M. The full Trust board will meet in June to finalize selections and help applicants meet program requirements.  Pensacola News Journal

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • The 2026 Atlantic hurricane season begins June 1, and since May 15 the National Hurricane Center has monitored tropical waves with no significant disturbances in the Atlantic basin. Forecasters predict a below-normal season but advise residents to prepare for storms.  Pensacola News Journal
