COMMUNITY NEWS
- ➤ After five months of work, Palafox Street reopened for vehicles today in downtown Pensacola following a pedestrian reopening on May 22. The project added upgrades — new landscaping, mid-block crossings, stormwater improvements and wider sidewalks — and plans call for a dedication ceremony on July 4. FOX 10
- ➤ Pensacola’s reimagined Palafox Street is once again open to vehicular traffic between Garden and Main Streets downtown. The upgraded roadway is set to improve access for drivers. Pensacola News Journal
ACCIDENTS NEWS
- ➤ Torrential rain on Sunday caused West Bogia Road at North Century Boulevard to collapse—flooding Highway 29 and prompting Central Water Works to reroute service as repairs are planned over the next several weeks. WEAR-TV

- ➤ Jordan Valley will close its longtime downtown restaurant on Jefferson Street by the end of June and shift operations to its renovated venue at 1400 Barrancas Ave. The restaurant (serving Pensacola for 17 years) continues to offer its popular Mediterranean dishes daily. Pensacola News Journal

- ➤ Since June 1, forecasters have tracked three tropical waves as conditions may improve for storm development later this week. In Escambia, there is a 28% chance and in Santa Rosa a 26% chance for a named storm in 2026, while state lawmakers permanently exempted key hurricane supplies from sales tax. Pensacola News Journal
- ➤ Hurricane season began on June 1 and forecasters expect below-to-near normal activity (8 to 14 storms, 1 to 3 major hurricanes) even as officials urge residents to prepare early.
