On Friday, Pensacola Beach lifeguards received two new four-wheel-drive patrol trucks donated by Pete Moore Chevrolet as part of a 22-year partnership with the Safe Shores initiative — Escambia County Public Safety said the vehicles will help patrol miles of shoreline and boost beach safety.

The Escambia Children's Trust approved $2.3M in grants to fund eight afterschool programs in Escambia County, including services from the Boys and Girls Club and the city’s Parks and Recreation.

The grants will run over three years, with the new cycle beginning Aug. 1 as students return on Aug. 12.

Gov. Ron DeSantis ordered flags to be flown at half-staff yesterday to honor the 49 Pulse Nightclub victims on their 10-year anniversary.
