ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • Yesterday, Pensacola closed Ninth Avenue between East Romana Street and Bayfront Parkway after a stormwater project caused part of the road to crumble—officials said the southbound lane will reopen before tomorrow morning and motorists should follow the detour via East Romana Street.  Pensacola News Journal

CULTURE NEWS

  • University of West Florida celebrated Juneteenth on June 16 with a community event presented by the Black Employees Association – the celebration featured speeches by State Attorney Frederick Longmire and live music by the Choral Society of Pensacola Treble Ensemble.  Pensacola News Journal

  • Escambia County recognized graduates of the Block-By-Block Workforce Development Program who completed hands-on training in HVAC and other construction trades during a ceremony at Brownsville Community Center on June 10—District 3 Commissioner Lumon May and Program Coordinator Joe Glover celebrated the achievement of graduates including Xavier Brooks, Darius Brown, Cameron Chisholm, Michael Crosby, Quentin Gholston, Kanye Jones, Brian Lisonbee, DeAndre Mason, Daniel Ramey, and Austin Swails.  Local Pulse
