- ➤ Gulf Breeze Zoo welcomed a newborn giraffe named Kahlani on May 9th from parents Kenya and Gideon—she is 6 feet tall and weighs about 151 pounds. Pensacola News Journal
ACCIDENTS NEWS
- ➤ Navarre Beach Fire Rescue responded Saturday morning at about 8:00 a.m. to a kayaker who lost consciousness roughly two miles south of the Navarre Beach Pier after free-diving. The rescue team aboard Ski 49 — aided by fellow kayakers who had placed the victim on a paddleboard — transported him to shore where a medical helicopter evacuated him to Pensacola for advanced care. - ➤ A 28-year-old Texas motorcyclist died Saturday morning when a 62-year-old woman rear-ended his motorcycle on Pensacola Beach on Via De Luna Drive near Avenida 19—troopers said the bike was dragged for almost one block before the SUV stopped. WEAR-TV

- ➤ The Pace community held a market event on Saturday to remember 22-year-old Luca Kukuk, who died in a suspected DUI crash in March, and raised awareness about drunk driving — his mother Rita Kukuk attended while Leslie Highstreet was arrested on DUI manslaughter charges and remains in Santa Rosa County Jail.
