  • On June 25th, 2025, Brian Wilson volunteered during the pre-dawn hours to clean and remove graffiti from Blake Doyle Skate Park in downtown Pensacola—he has been keeping the park clean since 2023.  Pensacola News Journal

CRIME NEWS

  • Pensacola concert promoter Rayvaughn L. Andrews, 41, pleaded guilty to federal conspiracy charges after laundering $10M in cocaine profits through casinos in Mississippi and Nevada — he will be sentenced at 9 a.m. on Sept. 23 before a federal judge at the Pensacola federal courthouse.  Rick's Blog

CULTURE NEWS

  • Communities in Escambia and Santa Rosa counties will celebrate July 4 with fireworks at Bayfront Parkway, the Pensacola Beach Boardwalk and Navarre Beach — along with family activities and live music at Blue Wahoos Stadium, West Florida Railroad Museum and Milton’s Riverfest. Flora-Bama will continue the festivities on July 5 with a Freedom Run and Miss Firecracker Contest on Perdido Key Drive.  Pensacola News Journal

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • The National Hurricane Center is tracking several tropical waves and a disturbance in the western Caribbean (with a low chance for development) and forecasters say a tropical system may form in the Gulf or off the southeast coast in early July. Pensacola residents experienced rain Friday and should stay alert as more unsettled weather is expected to affect upcoming holiday plans.  Pensacola News Journal

  • The ECSO said it hopes the Florida State budget approved by Governor DeSantis will include funding for the ShotSpotter system—technology used at the Real Time Crime Center in Pensacola to help fight crime.  Pensacola News Journal
  • Florida paid $20M in reparations to 926 survivors of abuse at Dozier and Okeechobee reform schools after 15 years of legal advocacy by groups including the White House Boys. Survivors received over $21,000 each as checks were mailed following a law signed last year—acknowledging the state’s past failure to protect vulnerable children.  Rick's Blog
