  • On July 5, an off-duty Escambia County Sheriff's deputy driving an unmarked patrol car struck two pedestrians at the River Road crossing on State Road 292—killing a man and a woman, both aged 20 from Alabama, and officials said the crash remains under investigation.  Pensacola News Journal
  • A 27-year-old Pensacola man was arrested by ECSO on July 5 after he allegedly fatally shot his uncle over a broken television near Alba Plena Street on Lakewood Road—he is now held without bond in county jail.  Pensacola News Journal

  • The Pensacola Beach Air Show will feature the U.S. Navy Blue Angels this summer, and records show that only the 2020 event was canceled because of COVID-19 concerns — officials note the review underscores a strong tradition of annual air shows.  Pensacola News Journal

  • Florida's Department of Education released school grades on Monday for the 2024—2025 school year — Escambia County schools earned a district grade of B while Santa Rosa County schools maintained an A, with Escambia reporting 16 A's, 18 B's, 16 C's and 3 D's and Santa Rosa reporting 15 A's, 9 B's, 5 C's and 1 F.  Pensacola News Journal
