- ➤ Cook Out, a popular fast-food chain known for its burgers, shakes and barbeque, is opening its first Pensacola restaurant in University Town Plaza at 1735 E. Nine Mile Road—replacing the former Regions Bank site. A soft opening is planned at 5:00 p.m. today with a full opening the following day as contractors finish touches and staff interviews continue. - ➤ Four Pensacola women face federal charges for allegedly using stolen DEA numbers to write prescriptions for over 300K hydrocodone and 30K oxycodone pills from January 2015 until June 2024+ their trial is scheduled for Aug. 18. Pensacola News Journal
- ➤ A Pace man named David Massey pleaded guilty to stealing over $118,000 by fraudulently taking his mother's Social Security benefits from 2019 until August 2023 — he faces up to 10 years in federal prison and must repay the full amount. Pensacola News Journal

- ➤ University of West Florida’s Center for Cybersecurity is providing free training through its CyberSkills2Work program—having trained over 3,500 specialists since 2020 to help stop hackers from taking over networks or stealing sensitive data. WEAR-TV
- ➤ Escambia County Public Schools released new elementary school grades showing an increase in B-rated schools from eight to 10—Navy Point and Global Learning Academy dropped to D. Ferry Pass, Pleasant Grove and A.K. Suter improved from B to A while other schools shifted their ratings from A to B or C, marking notable changes from last year. Rick's Blog

- ➤ Mayor D.C. Reeves announced plans to update Palafox Street with a project that will test two methods—one completing work in five months and one proceeding block by block over more than a year—while the city supports local businesses with free parking and marketing.
