- ➤ Retired Navy Capt. Royce Williams—100 years old—flew from the USS Oriskany during a 35-minute dogfight against seven Soviet MiG-15s on Nov. 18, 1952; the mission remained classified until 2002 and led to his receiving the Navy Cross in 2022. He visited Pensacola on July 11 and 12 to participate in the Red White and Blues Veterans Flight where he shared his long-hidden heroics. Pensacola News Journal
