🏘️ Community
A low Blue Angels flyover startled beachgoers at Pensacola Beach during Breakfast with the Blues Wednesday morning.
Items including tents and chairs were blown off as the Blue Angels Air Show Week kicked off, and NAS Pensacola officials have yet to comment.
🎭 Culture
A larger than usual crowd gathered at Pensacola Beach on Wednesday morning for Breakfast with the Blues as parking lots closed by 7 a.m. and the Blue Angels flew low to kick off Red White and Blues Week — giving residents a unique close-up display.
🌲 Environment
Pensacola earned national honors as the Arbor Day Foundation named it a 2025 Tree City USA and American Forests recognized it as a Tree Equity Champion.
The city is planning updated tree ordinances to protect heritage trees with changes to be reviewed by City Council this summer.
Models show the next storm will be Bertha, with a low chance of a tropical system forming near Florida's Big Bend or northern peninsula over the weekend that could bring heavy rain to the Panhandle.
The season has been quiet so far after Tropical Storm Arthur formed in mid-June.
🏛️ Government
The city began a $1.4M project at Sanders Beach Park on July 15 to install an accessible kayak launch, build new restrooms, and add shaded picnic tables + turtle-safe lighting.
The park will remain closed for about 60 days while the Corinne-Jones Resource Center stays open.
📰 Real Estate
Developers said they will move forward with the $310M Reverb Hard Rock Hotel project at Community Maritime Park after withdrawing their $58M tax rebate request.
The project, located across from Blue Wahoos Stadium, is expected to create construction + permanent jobs.
