ECONOMY NEWS
- ➤ Pensacola was named City on the Rise by LinkedIn on July 15 as one of the top 25 fastest-growing metro areas for job growth and new talent. Mayor D.C. GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ On July 17, the House approved a defense spending bill that includes $12M to restore the Blue Angels hangar at NAS Pensacola — the measure also stops federal funds from relocating the flight team and raises military pay by 3.8%. - ➤ During restaurant inspections for the week of July 14 through July 20, one Pensacola restaurant on Gulf Blvd was temporarily closed after inspectors found 12 violations including live flies and unsafe food storage—prompting an immediate halt in operations. Two restaurants received administrative complaints while two mobile units got high-priority issues—31 restaurants passed with no violations. Pensacola News Journal
- ➤ Pensacola is set to buy the old Escambia Clinic on N. Palafox for $1,275,000 using grant money from the Hollice T. Williams project if the city council approves the deal. The four-story building has sat empty and deteriorating for 12 years, and inspectors will check the property for hazards before the city plans to demolish it — a move aimed at removing a long-time eyesore.
