  • NAS Pensacola will offer two premium seating options for the Blue Angels Homecoming Air Show—Box Seats at $50 with an assigned seat and shade and The Flightline Chalet at $150 with a catered meal and unlimited non-alcoholic drinks—for the Nov. 7 and 8 events. Tickets go on sale at 11 a.m. Aug. 1 through the Homecoming Air Show website.  Pensacola News Journal

CRIME NEWS

  • Pensacola man Daniel Hux, who shot ECSO deputies in 2019 and was found not guilty by insanity on two counts of attempted murder, will be released from Florida State Hospital and moved to the Apalachee Center—pending a bed opening—despite objections from the Office of the State Attorney, with his progress set for review every six months and his next court date on Jan. 20.  Pensacola News Journal
  • A 34-year-old Mexican man—Teodoro Rodriguez-Alvarez—was arrested on July 15 after police responded to a truck in the emergency lane and found him unconscious, and he now faces federal charges for illegal possession of a firearm by an illegal alien.  WEAR-TV

ECONOMY NEWS

  • Pensacola State College will host its first-ever Construction Trade Career Fair on July 31 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. to connect jobseekers with local companies such as American Magic, ST Engineering and Comfort Systems USA, which are working to fill nearly 2,800 construction jobs in our region — offering opportunities for both new and experienced workers.  Pensacola News Journal

EDUCATION NEWS

  • A $50,000 donation from the NextEra Energy Foundation funds the inaugural Florida Power & Light Robotics Summer Camp hosted by UWF Hal Marcus College of Science and Engineering, where 16 local middle and high school students built and programmed robots to learn key STEM skills. The funds will support the camp through 2027 by providing kits and control systems at no cost to participants — encouraging hands-on robotics learning.  University of West Florida

FINANCE NEWS

  • Millions of Americans had their credit scores drop when student loan payments resumed last fall, with 2.2 million borrowers losing 100 points or more in early 2025. Experts advise calling lenders—if needed—to ask about deferment or income-based plans to help keep scores stable.  WEAR-TV

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • East Hill residents questioned parking practices after Randy Hamilton posted on Facebook about receiving two $25 tickets for leaving his car on the street for over 24 hours. Mayor D.C. Reeves replied—saying tickets only follow a neighbor’s complaint—and offered to pay the ticket if Hamilton proves his claim wrong.  Rick's Blog
  • Milton and Gulf Breeze opted out of a county taxing plan that lets residents lower their property taxes by $230 to $530 while costing the county about $5.4M in revenue—Milton raised its millage rate by about 1.115 mills to add nearly $726,000 to its general fund as local officials said law enforcement services will not change and both cities may reconsider next year.  Pensacola News Journal
