ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • A 52-year-old man was critically injured Wednesday on Massachusetts Avenue in Pensacola when an SUV driven by a 28-year-old woman struck him while he was improperly trying to cross at about 7 p.m.—he was taken to Baptist Hospital in critical condition.  FOX 10

CRIME NEWS

  • A grieving mother in Escambia County said her daughter Ariel Norris died last summer as a victim of human trafficking and drug abuse in Northwest Florida—her story highlights a criminal network that exploited vulnerable people.  WEAR-TV
  • Da'Quavion Snowden, 25, had his 2023 conviction for the 2021 murder of teen football player Ladarius Clardy overturned when the appellate court ruled that investigators ignored his right to an attorney before his interviews — a new trial will be scheduled in the future.  WEAR-TV
  • A 40-year-old Pensacola woman, Sarah Nowlin, was sentenced to 15 years in prison on Wednesday for fleeing the scene of a January 26 crash at 400 West Nine Mile Road that killed 34-year-old scooter rider Calvin Garlick—she drove away after striking him.  WEAR-TV

  • Alan Manning retired after 26 years as a lawyer and firm president at Clark Partington and now returns to teaching history at Pensacola Catholic High School this week—he taught there during a sabbatical before.   • Today Florida begins a new back-to-school sales tax holiday (covering qualifying school supplies) that exempts these items from tax through Aug. 31 after Gov.
