The Civic Leader Summit will bring together civic leaders, elected officials, and community builders to share ideas at a conference hosted by the Center for Civic Engagement — with Strong Towns sponsoring the event.
It will run Oct. 6-8 in Pensacola.

East Hill Pizza opened a new location on Pine Forest Road (6705 Suite 500) in Pensacola, replacing Hurricane Pizza and extending its community focus.
The Deese family maintains the signature menu with specialty pizzas, wings, and desserts and will hold a grand opening celebration soon.
Bodacious Market and Café in downtown Pensacola completed a 14-year renovation and unveiled a modern space plus a new menu (Breakfast Burrito and Pesto Turkey BLT) on Aug.
1; the venue continues to serve breakfast through lunch daily.

This week, a lineup of music and cultural events spans from TOTO’s live concert on Tuesday at the Wharf to Cards on the Coast on Saturday at the University and a Woodstock tribute at Flora-Bama.
Girls Trip Pensacola with Dej Loaf highlights the schedule, from Aug. 3 to 9.
🎓 Education
Gulf Coast Freedom Schools’ six-week Harambee summer program ended Friday at First Baptist Church in Warrington, where 30 K-5 scholars were recognized for improving reading skills and nurturing a love of literature.
The program helped participants gear up for a successful school year.

NAS Whiting Field said the Navy will install free water filtration systems for private wells exceeding EPA PFAS thresholds (if landowners consent) while it works to connect affected residences to public water.
Notification letters and postcards were sent recently to residents near the base.

Health officials reported that cyclosporiasis cases linked to Taylor Farms produce nearly doubled in the Panhandle.
The recall for shredded lettuce and iceberg salad with best-if-used dates on Aug. 3 remains active and consumers are advised to check labels as the FDA investigation continues.

The Architectural Review Board approved a new downtown shopping center anchored by a Publix (200 West Garden St) in Pensacola.
The project by Branch Acquisitions Company will add 33,700 sqft of grocery space and 30,500 sqft of retail area fronting Garden and Spring streets.
