On Sunday morning on Highway 29, a Florida Highway Patrol trooper who was investigating an earlier crash was injured when his cruiser was rear-ended by an SUV, and both he and the 36-year-old driver were taken to the hospital — criminal charges are pending.

A pickup truck was hit by a train Sunday morning at the crossing on East Nine Mile Road—just east of Highway 29 and North Palafox Street—and the driver was not seriously injured though the train's lead engine sustained damage.

Waterfront Mission and Ministry Village at Olive received opioid abatement grants to expand transitional housing for substance abuse treatment; Waterfront Mission will spend nearly $400,000 to buy a house for eight men while Ministry Village at Olive plans to build a new 30-bed home for women. The funding gives people like Jordan Clay a chance to rebuild their lives—providing safe housing during recovery.

The Pensacola Senior Games 2025 will run from Sept.

5 to Sept. 19 at several Escambia County venues. Seniors aged 50 and older will compete in 23 sports such as archery, tennis, and disc golf, and winners will qualify for the Florida Senior Games while defending champion Cathy Vanderpol returns and may add a cornhole event—registration costs $15.
