- ➤ Downtown Pensacola will host the Civic Leader Summit: Building Vibrant Cities Across America from Sept. 23 to Sept. 25—an event where civic leaders, public officials and business owners will share ideas and learn practical ways to revitalize communities. The summit will feature a welcome reception, keynote sessions at the Saenger Theatre and workshops at Blue Wahoos Stadium—showcasing Pensacola’s downtown attractions and strategies for growth. ACCIDENTS NEWS
- ➤ Eight people were injured in a five-vehicle crash on Highway 97 in Walnut Hill Saturday afternoon as an 18-year-old driver from Atmore lost control of his SUV, colliding first with a van and then with three other vehicles before overturning—three were critically injured, one was airlifted, and Highway 97 reopened at about 9:30 p.m. WEAR-TV
- ➤ A 55-year-old man died when he was struck at 5:28 a.m. Sunday on Fairfield Drive in Escambia county by a sedan driven by a 23-year-old Pensacola woman—two other vehicles may have also hit him and then left the scene. WEAR-TV
- ➤ An 18-year-old Atmore man was cited for careless driving after he lost control of his Ford SUV at about 5:25 p.m. on Saturday on SR-97 in Escambia County — his vehicle struck a passenger van and three other vehicles, injuring several people who were taken to local hospitals. WEAR-TV
