  • Barktoberfest 2025 will be held on October 18 at Seville Square and Fountain Park in downtown Pensacola — featuring dog-friendly contests, training demonstrations and vendor booths — as the Pensacola Ice Flyers and the Humane Society work together to support shelter pet adoptions.  Local Pulse

ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • Firefighters responded early Tuesday morning to a house fire at 4003 Pine Forest Road, where a narrow driveway slowed truck access and extra hoses were requested as the Bureau of Fire and Arson took over the investigation.  WEAR-TV

CRIME NEWS

  • A Pensacola man, Jovon Booker, faces federal charges for drug trafficking and money laundering along with a state charge of attempted murder from a 2024 nightclub shooting and will appear for arraignment on Aug. 28 at 11 a.m. at the U.S. Courthouse—his case involves evidence tied to hundreds of thousands of dollars.  Pensacola News Journal
  • A 56-year-old Holt woman, Kelly Ann Bolton, threatened to shoot up the Sandy Sansing Mazda dealership in Pensacola on June 9 — she was arrested on July 31 in Okaloosa County, released on bond on Aug. 2, and is scheduled to appear in court on Nov. 18.  WEAR-TV
  • A 35-year-old man from Fort Walton Beach pleaded guilty to drug trafficking—supplying cocaine, fentanyl, methamphetamine and marijuana—and money laundering charges and was sentenced to 13 years in federal prison.  WEAR-TV
  • A federal indictment alleges that 35-year-old Justin J. Wright from Bay Shore used cyberstalking, extortion, and fire threats against Escambia Clerk Pam Childers—he is set to be arraigned in Pensacola on Sept. 9 at 1:30 p.m.  Pensacola News Journal

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • The Pensacola and Perdido Bays Estuary Program released its 2025 report today showing that oyster populations in Pensacola Bay are in critical condition while seagrass beds remain stable. The report also noted that urban bayous have high bacteria levels + the next update is set for 2027.  Rick's Blog
