CRIME NEWS

  • A 32-year-old Pensacola man named Jovon Booker now faces federal charges for money laundering and drug trafficking as well as attempted murder charges from a May 2024 club shooting—his trial for the shooting is set for Sept. 24.  WEAR-TV
  • Pensacola Police investigated a shooting on West Gadsden Street on Sunday morning after a shot spotter alert led officers to an 800 block home where one adult was struck by non life-threatening gunfire and taken to the hospital for treatment.  WEAR-TV

  • Gov. Ron DeSantis, his new appointees to the UWF Board of Trustees, and Interim President Manny Diaz seem unaware of Pensacola’s hidden gay tourism history—locals say this oversight may hinder plans to preserve the city’s cultural legacy.  Rick's Blog
  • Lego fans will gather at the Pensacola Brick Convention on September 13 and 14 at the Interstate Fairgrounds to explore themed zones—such as Star Wars and Castle—and meet professional builders.   • Fall enrollment at the University of West Florida reached 15,666 students as of August 26, driven by new cybersecurity and engineering programs, while Pensacola State College enrolled 10,700 students as of August 28—the record for the college in over a decade.
