- ➤ Pensacola will use a $9.5M state grant to renovate the Fricker Resource Center that has long served the Black community & raised gentrification fears as residents seek oversight of the project. - ➤ Today, Pensacola travelers began nonstop flights to Bentonville-Fayetteville on Thursdays and Sundays from $49 one way—Breeze Airways also started nonstop service to Memphis on Mondays and Fridays on September 5, offering fares from $39. Rick's Blog

- ➤ Taste of Gulf Breeze will return Oct. 24 from 6-9 p.m. at the Gulf Breeze Community Center—located at 800 Shoreline Drive—where over 50 vendors will offer food and drink samples for $25 per person. - ➤ Students at Myrtle Grove Elementary will soon move into a new school ($40M) built over nearly two years after the old building was torn down; the 87,000 square foot facility has 70-inch TVs in every classroom and a clinic, and it will open after Christmas break once new furniture arrives (October). - ➤ The Florida Department of Health reported a new Vibrio vulnificus case in Escambia County today—bringing the county total to three and including a Pensacola woman who nearly lost her leg after swimming in Santa Rosa Sound on July 27—and the state now has 25 cases of this 'flesh-eating' bacteria that can cause rapid tissue damage if not treated quickly.
