  • At Hadji Shrine on Saturday afternoon, cooks in Pensacola hosted a Cajun shootout and steak cookoff that raised funds for the Shriners healthcare network while national competitors and local Sheriff Chip Simmons joined the tasting of gumbo and grilled steaks.  WEAR-TV
  • Green Acres Rescue held its 2nd Annual Dog Adoption Festival, A New Leash on Life, on Sunday at the Escambia County Equestrian Center where rescues from Northwest Florida and lower Alabama gathered with food trucks, vendors, and raffles to help dogs find homes. Organizers said the event aimed to ease shelter overcrowding, hoping to exceed last year’s 32 adoptions by reaching 50 this year.  WEAR-TV

ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • On Saturday, September 6 at 12:24 p.m., firefighters fought a mobile home fire at the 3200 block of Bob Tolbert Road in Holley—flames spread to a nearby house and one home collapsed as two firefighters became overheated, with one treated at urgent care while crews worked to control the blaze.  FOX 10
