Today, Pensacola will use $143,500 from its Tree Trust Fund to plant 82 trees at multiple locations such as Main Street, North 12th Avenue, and Zamora Square, including East Palatka hollies, Southern live oaks, American fringe trees, and magnolias.
The project aims to boost the city’s urban canopy.
Forecasts show a quiet hurricane season as El Niño, Saharan dust, and high wind shear have kept the Atlantic calm so far, with average storm dates passing without activity, forecasters said.
Pensacola residents should stay prepared + know there is still a slim chance for a hurricane to form.
