- ➤ The Landrum 5K Run/Walk will take place on Oct. 11 at 8 a.m. from the Landrum office on E. Garden Street in downtown Pensacola to raise funds for Lakeview Center, which offers mental health, substance use, and intellectual disability services. - ➤ On Thursday, Pensacola City Council met to hear protests by more than a dozen residents who urged cancelling a Christmas-themed drag show at the city-owned Saenger Theatre while expressing concerns over its offensive content. City Attorney Adam Cobb warned that canceling the event would expose the city to legal risks—citing contractual and constitutional protections—that prevented any immediate cancellation. WUWF
- ➤ On September 10, the Escambia Children’s Trust board chose a rollback millage rate of 0.03798 mills to lower taxes for children programs after a heated debate over spending priorities. Community members later questioned high administrative costs and the lack of discussion on a nearly 65K check from Pensacola Little Theatre while the trust has asked the auditor general to review the issues.
