  • Elden Scott, known for his cowboy hat and generous nature, will lead his team at Pensacola Eggfest on Sunday, November 16 at Hadji Temple — a local BBQ event where teams compete and help raise funds for community causes. The event promises a vibrant mix of cooking styles as teams join hands to support charities in Pensacola.  Local Pulse
  • Pensacola seniors now receive free hot meals two days a week from the Council on Aging of West Florida due to rising food costs and limited funds—this service was reduced from five days and will resume full service on January 1.  WEAR-TV
  • Children’s Home Society held its annual luncheon today to honor community partners like Jessica Jensen, State Senator Don Gaetz, and Florida Blue for their work supporting local programs. CULTURE NEWS

  • Taylor Swift’s new movie, The Official Release Party of a Showgirl, will play in Florida theaters from Oct. 3-5; the 89-minute film shows the music video for The Fate of Ophelia, behind-the-scenes footage, and her thoughts on making the album—and theaters start showings at 2 p.m. CT with sessions every 30 minutes until 10 p.m.  Pensacola News Journal
  • Pensacola unveiled a new World War II micro exhibit at City Hall on Tuesday to honor the local role in the war and its designation as Florida’s only American World War II Heritage City. Mayor D.C. Reeves and retired Capt. Sterling Gilliam explained that the exhibit highlights key sites like Naval Air Station Pensacola and its auxiliary air stations that once trained naval aviators.  Rick's Blog
  • Last Friday, the National Naval Aviation Museum in Pensacola hosted the Return with Honor exhibit that showed the struggles of Vietnam War prisoners of war and the challenges faced by their families. The permanent display—featuring personal accounts and artifacts—reminded visitors of the resilience and sacrifice shared during captivity.  WEAR-TV

ECONOMY NEWS

  • Leonardo Helicopters US unveiled its new 73000 square foot maintenance, repair and overhaul facility at Whiting Aviation Park on September 18th to support helicopter operations and create high-wage jobs. Florida officials and local partners celebrated the launch — noting the project will also boost aviation support at NAS Whiting Field and strengthen the region's aerospace industry.  WUWF

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • WSRE-TV Foundation hired lawyer Brad C. Deutsch to help steer WSRE’s future after Pensacola State College voted to end its PBS affiliation and decertify the foundation, citing a $1.5M budget shortfall. The board will meet again on Sept. 25 at 4:15 p.m. to review options—such as retaining PBS programming and exploring community partnerships—to secure the station's future.  Pensacola News Journal

HEALTH NEWS

  • Pensacola Hospitalist Physicians LLC had a data breach when someone broke into its computer system between May 22 and 23 and took names, Social Security numbers, birth dates, addresses, and medical records from thousands of patients; the breach was found on Sept 11 and letters were sent starting Sept 18 while the group gives free TransUnion Cyberscout credit checks—patients should watch for strange activity.  Rick's Blog

  • Work on the 56,000 sq. ft. warehouse—warehouse 10—for the American Magic race team was underway at the Port of Pensacola on Sept 18 and will be completed by November so the team can move in immediately.  Pensacola News Journal
