On Sept. 16, 2025, Pensacola State College trustee Zack Smith demanded that the equity language be removed from Achieve Escambia’s website during a board meeting, and no other trustees objected.

Escambia Children's Trust board voted to extend contracts for three mental health providers for 30 days, citing missing audits and unusual budget spending such as on boxing lessons.
The program committee will meet on October 28 to review the programs and decide on next steps.
Pensacola health experts say gum disease is linked to serious illnesses like heart disease, diabetes, and dementia—local dentist Dr. Scott Dickinson and UWF's Dr. Shelley Diviney stress the importance of early dental care for seniors.
They noted that modern treatments, including lighter dentures and implants, can help improve health while addressing cost challenges.
