- ➤ Pensacola will honor Veterans Day today with an 11:00 a.m. ceremony at Veterans Memorial Park and a 2:00 p.m. parade at Pensacola Beach Elks Lodge—where local businesses offer discounts to veterans and active-duty service members—ensuring the community recognizes their service. Local Pulse
- ➤ Retired Navy Captain Butch Hansen has helped restore Pensacola Veterans Memorial Park (Jewel by the Bay) after it fell into disrepair and now sits on a steering committee making recommendations to the mayor. - ➤ Pensacola Mardi Gras will host its second city-wide planning meeting on November 13th at Phineas Phoggs in Seville Quarter—doors open at 5:00 p.m. with a cash bar and the meeting starting at 6:00 p.m. At the meeting, Krewe members and vendors will draw for room assignments for the Fat Tuesday Celebration on February 17th, 2026—key planning for the upcoming season. - ➤ The Florida Board of Governors appointed Janice Gilley and Kishane J. Patel to the UWF Board of Trustees — their five-year terms will begin Jan 7 and need Florida Senate confirmation. - ➤ Pensacola City Council approved $10.7 million in funding for the New Palafox project to rebuild downtown with wider sidewalks, crosswalks and better drainage, and the project awaits a final vote on November 13 while the street is set to be closed for several months starting early January—Pensacola businessman Quint Studer pledged to lend cash to storefronts facing cash flow issues, having already provided $400K in support.
