- ➤ During Pensacola Eggfest this past weekend, 31 cook teams competed and judges awarded the Pensacola Police Department as well as Rocket Five winning People’s Choice—each step marking a new chapter in the event’s long tradition. The festival raised over one million dollars for local charities and will help fund a new facility dog for children at Studer Family Children’s Hospital. Local Pulse
- ➤ Feeding the Gulf Coast is preparing to distribute 1,000 extra Thanksgiving meals in Pensacola after a federal shutdown and reduced SNAP benefits left local food pantries with low supplies. The nonprofit increased its distributions by 50% and prepped 30,000 pounds of food and 300 boxes to help meet the rising need (pantry stocks have been heavily depleted). WEAR-TV
- ➤ Trinity Village will soon open nine tiny homes for low-income seniors in downtown Pensacola with rents of about $500 a month and hurricane-proof construction — built by the Catholic Diocese to meet a growing need for affordable housing. Escambia County leaders are debating zoning changes that could allow more tiny homes in the area — discussions on new housing rules are expected in the coming months. WUWF
- ➤ The 18th Annual Fill the Mayflower food and funds drive, presented by Coastal Moving + Storage and benefiting Manna Food Bank, will take place on Friday, November 21 from 5:00 AM to 6:30 PM at the Dillard’s parking lot at Cordova Mall where locals can donate nonperishable food and monetary gifts to help families, seniors, veterans and others in need. - ➤ The Port of Pensacola is asking Triumph Gulf Coast for $86 million to help bring a U.S.-based shipbuilding firm to the port—this project will create 2,000 jobs over five years with most workers earning about $68,000 per year. The grant would cover about one third of the project's overall cost. WEAR-TV
- ➤ A new family-owned brewery is set to replace Doc’s Hop Shop on 500 E. Heinberg St. and will offer handcrafted beers, interactive darts, family games and rotating food trucks. Owners plan a soft opening with guest brews around Thanksgiving—renovations will be completed by next spring. Pensacola News Journal
- ➤ Demolition on the old Mugshots building in Pace is underway to clear space for a planned Dutch Bros Coffee shop at Pace Crossroads—developers have not submitted a full site plan yet. Mugshots left the location earlier this year to return to Pensacola. Pensacola News Journal
- ➤ Retailers across the Florida Panhandle are running an extended Black Friday event with sales starting early and some deals lasting into early December. Pensacola shoppers at Cordova Mall can take advantage of early offers on Nov. 28 from 6 a.m. to 9 p.m.—other stores also offer varied online and in-store discounts. Pensacola News Journal

- ➤ Pensacola served as a crucial training center during World War II and became known as the Cradle of Naval Aviation—its legacy is honored with a free exhibit at City Hall unveiled in September that features authentic memorabilia and artifacts from the era. Local Pulse
- ➤ Pensacola Little Theatre announced the soft opening of its new rooftop bar called The Rooftop — a creative space with a downtown view that will host pop-up events and serve specialty cocktails during a limited soft open period. Local Pulse
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ After the Pensacola City Council approved the $14.8 million contract on Nov. 13 to tear down the old Baptist Hospital, Councilman Delarian Wiggins pressed for more minority participation and affordable housing as local residents expressed deep distrust over the redevelopment. Prep work will begin next month and demolition is set to run through 2027—officials promise to include community voices in the process. Pensacola News Journal
REAL ESTATE NEWS
- ➤ Warrington Senior Living, a proposed $30 million affordable senior housing project at 701 S. Old Corry Field Road, received $460K from SHIP funds and an added $37.5K from the County Housing Finance Authority, and was chosen over competing proposals. If the tax credit application is approved, the 96 one-bedroom apartments will offer rents of $736 or $1,104 a month and daily support services — with local contractors slated to be used.
