  • The Northwest Florida Guardian ad Litem Foundation raised over $119,000 from its Garden Gala in Niceville on October 26 and its Groove & Give event in Pensacola on November 7 to support over 1,500 foster children. The funds helped provide essential items such as clothing, therapy, education, and health care to abused, abandoned, and neglected children in the region.  Local Pulse

  • Tipsy Scoop Barlour opened on November 15 at 11 a.m. in downtown Pensacola at 194 N. Palafox St, offering a selection of ice cream with alcohol and cocktail-style flavor flights.   • Pensacola Mardi Gras officials held the final City-Wide Planning Meeting last week at Seville Quarter where krewes were assigned their 2026 Fat Tuesday room hosts+ the meeting set key dates for events such as the January 3 kickoff and the Fat Tuesday celebration on February 17. ECONOMY NEWS

  • Mayor Reeves said a Denver-based shipbuilding firm has asked about building a $250 million, 400,000 sq. ft. facility at the Port of Pensacola if the pre-application is approved by Triumph Gulf Coast. The proposal, which includes a $150 million investment and an $86 million city request with a $14 million matching grant, is expected to create 2,000 new jobs within less than three years—transforming the local economy.  WEAR-TV

  • Sixty thousand local families who rely on SNAP benefits face risk today as a government shutdown leaves funding uncertain—nonprofit leaders from United Way, Manna Food Bank, and Big Brothers Big Sisters warn they cannot fully support those in need.  Rick's Blog
  • Red light cameras in Pensacola recorded over 26,000 citations from February 1 to October 31, with the intersection at 9th Avenue and Gregory Street topping the list at 8,274 violations—data that shows the cameras did not lower the number of drivers running red lights. Mayor Reeves said the city will review additional safety measures in January after gathering a full year’s traffic data.  WEAR-TV
  • Okaloosa County approved a partnership with Visit Pensacola and Coastal Conservation Association Florida to deploy the SS United States as an artificial reef in early 2026—contributions of $1.5 million and $500,000 will help transform the ship into a premier diving attraction and boost tourism in Northwest Florida.  WEAR-TV
