- ➤ The East Hill Neighborhood Association is hosting a free Holiday Makers Market & Tree Lighting event today at Cordova Square Park (1101 N. 12th Ave) in Pensacola. The event runs from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. and features over 50 vendors, food trucks, hot cocoa, and family activities including tree lighting and carols at 6:00 p.m. Local Pulse
- ➤ On Dec. 1, 2025, Pensacola hosted the CivicCon Awards at the SCI Building to honor local leaders and organizations with distinctions in volunteerism, neighborhood impact, environmental stewardship, transportation, and government transparency—recognizing honorees such as Reverend John Powell, the Santa Rosa Band, and the East Hill Neighborhood Association. - ➤ ReEntry Alliance Pensacola has assembled 14 pallet shelters delivered from Everett, Washington and positioned them next to a hygiene trailer with eight bathrooms as they prepare to house individuals by the new year — the shelters include a bed, desk and windows while potential residents are being interviewed and case management is set to help them gain independence over six months. - ➤ The Pensacola Fire Department and Escambia County Fire Rescue launched their annual Keep the Wreath Green fire safety campaign on Dec. 1 — a program designed to remind locals to inspect their holiday decorations safely — and encouraged residents to ensure their smoke alarms work correctly. - ➤ Escambia County has begun demolishing the old Pensacola Bay Fishing Pier that was damaged by Hurricane Sally in September 2020 to build a new structure mirroring the original design — the nearly $22,873,000 project, partly funded by FEMA and the state, is expected to finish by Summer 2027 while the pier remains closed. - ➤ Studer Family Children's Hospital received a four-year grant from the Florida Blue Foundation to launch a mental health program called Sacred Support that adds a licensed therapist for children and families facing long hospital stays, injuries, or new diagnoses.
