- ➤ Pensacola International Airport has launched a new seasonal nonstop route with Contour Airlines that began on March 22 and will operate through August 2 with flights on Wednesdays and Saturdays. The service connects Pensacola to Northwest Alabama Regional Airport in Muscle Shoals—home to a rich musical history—with fares starting at $99. Local Pulse

- ➤ Mayor DC Reeves warned that if anyone comes to your door claiming to work for the city and asking for donations, it is likely a scam—city staff never go door-to-door and you should ask to see a solicitation permit before giving any money. WEAR-TV
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ UWF students, faculty, archaeologists, local families and veterans with Task Force Dagger Special Operations Foundation are searching for Fort Kirkland in Okaloosa County—an effort funded by a $250,000 grant from the Department of State—and reviewing spring break findings to guide future fieldwork this semester. They will propose a historical marker for the site to Rep. Patt Maney in fall. University of West Florida

- ➤ Lucy Adams Stevenson, a Pensacola teen affected by digital exploitation, testified before the FL Senate to support a ban on AI-generated nude images — underscoring how the issue harmed her and her classmates — as lawmakers consider stricter rules. - ➤ Escambia County commissioners voted on a letter sent to Sen. Don Gaetz asking Florida’s Committee on Ethics and Elections not to confirm Governor DeSantis’ appointee—Scott Yenor—to the UWF Board of Trustees. The letter warned that the appointment threatened UWF’s future by risking a drop in enrollment and cuts to academic programs—changes that could affect local businesses. Pensacola News Journal
- ➤ Pensacola Bay Cruises is operating one ferry on its Fort Pickens, Pensacola Beach and downtown route while the Pelican Perch remains out of service. - ➤ Pensacola City Council reviewed the 10th annual Resident Satisfaction Survey results from the Haas Center at UWF, which showed that residents value our waterfront, arts, festivals, and feeling safe.
