- ➤ Rally Gulf Coast held its seventh annual Rally On the Runway at Brownsville Community Center and raised $840,960 for childhood cancer research, marking a decade of efforts that have brought in over $7,000,000 to support families. The event honored Cindi Bonner (Volunteer of the Decade Award) and featured a fashion show with community leaders and Rally Kids (children battling cancer) to inspire hope for future research. CRIME NEWS
- ➤ Pensacola police are seeking charges against teens who allegedly assaulted a homeless man at Graffiti Bridge last week after a video showed them taunting him, knocking him unconscious, and leaving him on the railroad tracks near 17th Avenue—Pensacola Mayor D.C. Reeves called the video shameful and said that despite the victim declining to press charges or accept medical care, the state attorney is reviewing the case due to the dangerous circumstances. - ➤ The University of West Florida’s student-managed Argo Funds placed second for the Argo Bond and Argo Small Funds and third for the Argo Growth Fund at a global portfolio competition held in New York City on April 3rd and 4th. More than 130 universities and over 1,000 students competed, marking the first time UWF placed in three different categories in the competition's 30-year history. University of West Florida

- ➤ Local businesses such as Unique Boutique and Camellia Grab-n-go remained open after FDOT reconfigured traffic lanes and repaired the sidewalk along Garden Street on April 7th—business owners placed updated signs to help guide customers during the Garden Street Improvement Project. A flyer explained that the project will continue to improve traffic flow and pedestrian safety in Pensacola. Pensacola News Journal
- ➤ Design plans for the new Hollice T. Williams Park were unveiled at the Cobb Resource Center in Pensacola on April 8—Scott Streeb of Michael Van Valkenburgh Associates pointed out features on a model. Mayor DC Reeves spoke before the plans were revealed and officials said the project will move forward soon. Pensacola News Journal
- ➤ Officials unveiled the first of eight tiny homes built by inmates at Century Correctional Institute in Escambia County on April 8 — the new work program by FDC and PRIDE aims to boost inmates' trade skills and education. Pensacola News Journal
- ➤ Pensacola lit up its new welcome sign after a brief ceremony on Wednesday night near 7 p.m. Mayor D.C. Reeves led a countdown before turning on the lights along Gregory Street and Bayfront Parkway so drivers exiting the Three Mile Bridge could see it. WEAR-TV

- ➤ Gulf Breeze girls lacrosse head coach Ken McIlhenny reached his 200th career win last week when his Dolphins beat Niceville — his team celebrated with a special banner after the win.
