ACCIDENTS NEWS
- ➤ Two drivers (a 16-year-old from Cantonment and a 33-year-old from Flomaton) were seriously injured in a crash on Highway 29 at the Quintette Road intersection in Escambia County on Wednesday evening and the teen will be cited for failing to yield at a stop sign. WEAR-TV
CRIME NEWS
- ➤ Authorities arrested Pace Pharmacy owners Stephen and Monique Burklow and pharmacist David Winkles on May 14 for allegedly trafficking controlled substances including oxycodone, hydrocodone, and hydromorphone after an FDLE-led investigation linked them to a pill mill that pushed 100+ lbs of opioids into Florida communities + a joint effort with local and state agencies led to their arrest. GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Pensacola will vote on May 22 on a $15.9 million settlement that refunds $12.6 million in franchise fees to Pensacola Energy customers who lived in the city since 2019 — the agreement also awards $50,000 to Eric Frank and $3.25 million for legal fees from a 2015 lawsuit that ruled the city unlawfully charged fees, with judge approval still pending.
