  • Downtown Pensacola hosted the Firecracker 5K that raised nearly $55,000 for Ronald McDonald House charities with 703 runners participating. Hailey Samples emceed the event—Ronald McDonald House President Summer Jimmerson said it is one of three key fundraisers—helping families in need.  WEAR-TV
  • On Saturday, the Five Flags Amateur Radio Association held a 24-hour Radio Field Day in Pensacola to show how operators set up emergency communications at hospitals and food centers when cell phones and power fail. Volunteers, including 12-year-old Francis Solomon, highlighted the need for new licensed HAMs as hurricane season nears — Pensacola State College will offer a certification class in September.  WEAR-TV
