Good morning, Pensacola. Here's your local news at a glance for Friday, the 18th of July.
CRIME NEWS

ECONOMY NEWS
- ➤ Pensacola was ranked #25 by LinkedIn for new talent as remote workers and entrepreneurs are drawn here for high-tech jobs and beach life — a trend driven by local efforts to boost downtown amenities and create lasting opportunities. EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ A new Florida law now requires every public and charter school to have one AED on campus and to train staff & students to use it, with schools given two years to comply. FOX 10
- ➤ United Way of West Florida will host its annual Stuff the Bus School Supply Drive on Thursday, July 24 from 6:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. to help students in Escambia and Santa Rosa Counties get needed school supplies—donations will be collected at Walmart locations on Mobile Highway, Creighton Road, Blue Angel Parkway, Pea Ridge, and Tiger Point. Local Pulse
- ➤ Dr. Eddie Ruiz, Florida superintendent for Charter Schools USA, said Warrington Preparatory Academy filed an appeal to change its middle school grade from a D to a C after finding that 48 students who did not attend classes were wrongly counted in their performance scores — officials expect a decision within days and have delayed their high school expansion by one year. The school carefully reviewed each performance bucket to ensure more accurate accountability measures and has continued to invest in staff training and improvements. Rick's Blog
