- ➤ On Saturday, over 500 students and families attended PSC Outreach Ministries’ Back-to-School Bash in Pensacola to receive free haircuts, supplies and support from 40 vendors ahead of school starting Aug. 11—kids also played in a basketball tournament to round out summer. WEAR-TV
- ➤ Service dog Bubba will return to the Pensacola Blue Wahoos Stadium to throw the first pitch today at 4 p.m. as his handler Marisol from Panama City Beach leads her family to visit the stadium where Bubba grew up and was trained over 18 months—his hearing skills help alert her to sounds in her busy college life. - ➤ Seven Days Out is a guide to upcoming concerts, festivals, and family activities across Escambia and Santa Rosa counties, starting Monday with live shows at The Handlebar and Seville Quarter and continuing through a fishing rodeo, a Motown tribute, and a dance party on Friday, a library sale and murder mystery dinner on Saturday, and concluding with a live concert on Sunday at The Handlebar. - ➤ Jumping Lomo held a Fiestas Patrias celebration on July 9 at The Garden at Palafox & Main in downtown Pensacola, serving traditional Peruvian dishes, live music and dance to mark Independence Day. - ➤ WSRE-PBS—located on Pensacola State College’s campus—is planning to cut some programs as a new rescissions bill will reduce its $5.5 million budget by $1.14 million, and WUWF is reviewing its plans while both stations search for new funding to keep serving local viewers. Pensacola News Journal
- ➤ Late Friday evening, the EPA announced it is closing its Office of Research and Development, leading to thousands of layoffs, but the Gulf Ecosystem Measurement & Modeling Division Laboratory will remain open near Pensacola to continue research on climate change, pollution & runoff. The agency said it will replace the office with a new branch designed to cut nearly $750 million in costs. WEAR-TV
