CRIME NEWS
- ➤ Pensacola officials reported that an attempted murder suspect was federally indicted on charges including drug trafficking—while a local school district IT specialist was suspended for repeated unwanted contact with students and the city asked FDOT to help remove a Black Lives Matter mural under state funding rules. Data from red light cameras showed over 17,000 violations since January and a new guide listed 17 restaurants offering meals for $15 or less. Pensacola News Journal

SPORTS NEWS
- ➤ Pensacola high school football got off to a strong start as Pace football's sophomore Makael Williams scored four touchdowns—including an 80—yard catch—and-run—to lead the Patriots to a 41—20 win over Pensacola Catholic on Aug. 29; he now has seven touchdowns in two games and is approaching half of last season's 1,213—yard total. Other local teams posted wins on opening day with scores such as Niceville's 27—6, Booker T. Washington's 28—20 and Tate's 48—13 while several matchups are set for early September. - ➤ Escambia County is enhancing security for youth football games held on Saturdays in parks such as Ensley, Brent and Cantonment—deputies and mobile cameras are deployed to deter disruptions.
